Artsy Craftsy April – Crafts with googly eyes

So here is our entry for this month’s Artsy Craftsy Challenge. The theme this month is googly eyes. Both Cheebu and I often watch Mr. Maker on Cbeebies and he uses googly eyes quite often. We had never used it before and decided to give it a try for this month’s theme. I think the googly eyes give a very special effect to the craft creatures that you create. We are going to use this more often now in our crafts.

I was looking for simple things to make where Cheebu could be easily involved. First we made the paper plate fish. It was quite simple to make. Cheebu painted the paper plate yellow. Then I cut out the triangle from the plate and Cheebu did all the sticking part. We then made some patterns with the pencil to make it look like the fish πŸ™‚

Next we made the elephant, giraffe and the octopus from recycled cardboard tubes, you know the long ones around which aluminium foil is wrapped. I cut it into small pieces and we covered it withΒ colored origamiΒ paper. I then cut out the patterns for their ears, face, tentacles etc … while Cheebu punched the colored dots for the octopus and tore colored paper for the giraffe’s spots. We then pasted them and the googly eyes on the cardboard tubes to make the creatures πŸ™‚ The giraffe’s horns are made with painted matchstick .

That was one weekend afternoon well spent πŸ™‚

    • Thank you Smitha πŸ™‚ Cheebu can’t do all this on her own right now. We do it together πŸ™‚
Do try them with Poohi. I am sure she will have more ideas of her own to add πŸ™‚

    • Glad you liked them Priya πŸ™‚ Do try them with your kids. I am sure they’ll have even more ideas πŸ™‚
